The SN74CB3T3257PWR, which belongs to logic and signal switches, multiplexers, decoders, is a low-voltage, 18-bit, 3-state bus switch with a voltage level translator. It includes three independent bidirectional translation switches, each consisting of 18 bidirectional translation buffers with individual control. It prevents the chip from being damaged by excessive output current if the low-voltage side voltage surpasses its max voltage. This current limitation also prevents transient ground noise from effecting the chip’s operation by limiting output current until ground noise is reduced.
The chip adopts a special power-on reset circuit to ensure that the IC will not run out of control in the event of power failure. During chip power-on reset, the programmable output threshold is activated. As the reset period is longer than the delay time of the reset circuit, the output of the IC is forced to Tstate, ensuring that the circuitry which the IC connects to is not adversely affected. Additionally, it also provides three easy and efficient protection methods, namely OVP(over voltage protection), OLP(over voltage protection) and RCED(residential current-limiting protection).
As well as protection circuits, the SN74CB3T3257PWR also includes an internal level shifter, which is used to switch between low-voltage buses and high-voltage buses. The level shifter consists of two high-voltage MOSFETs. It switches the required voltage level to the input voltage level of the high-voltage bus. The high-voltage bus is then transferred to the low-voltage bus through eitherthe pull-up resistors or pull-down resistors.
The SN74CB3T3257PWR also features a wide range of logic representation options, allowing for various configurations within one package. It features 8-bit, 16-bit, 18-bit, and 20-bit logic representations, enabling data transfer between bidirectional buses with different data widths. It also offers a bus switching time of 150ns, allowing the chip to switch quickly between high- and low-voltage buses.
