The SN74HC4060PWR is a high-speed CMOS Logic integrated circuit designed for low-power counter and divider applications. This device has the ability to count and divide an input clock frequency with a maximum of 16,384 frequency divisions. This is a counter and divider family explicitly designed for very low-power. It has improved noise immunity, compatibility with TTL logic levels, and a wide supply voltage range of 2.0V to 6.0V. The SN74HC4060PWR is fabricated using advanced CMOS logic technology, providing low power consumption and high noise immunity.
The SN74HC4060PWR is a 14-stage decade counter with a 10-bit output and 4-bit control inputs. The 10-bit outputs are cascaded together in order through the first 10 stages which contain the Ripple Counter (RCD) section of the device. The 4-bit Control inputs determine the behaviour of the 11th to 14th stages, which contains the Master-Slave Flip-Flops (MSFF) section of the device.
The SN74HC4060PWR has two different reset options. The active-high RESET pin provides full reset of the device, while the active-low RCD Pin resets only the Ripple Counter portion of the device. Both reset methods provide instantaneous reset of all counter stages. The active-high ENABLE pin allows for a synchronized disable of the full 14-stage counter. This allows for the device to be synchronized to the system clock for applications requiring low risk of metastability.
The SN74HC4060PWR can be used to divide the system clock frequency by predetermined ratios of up to 16384 times.
