Appearance

The SN75138D comes in two different versions: a standard and a dual-in-line version. The DIP version of the SN75138D has 16 pins with a 0.2mm spacing. The size of the DIP is 7.62mm X 5.08mm X 2.54mm.

The dual-in-line version of the SN75138D is slightly larger, measuring 10.42mm X 7.62mm X 2.54mm. The SN75138D also has an extended temperature range of up to 85°C.

Working Principle

The SN75138D is a monolithic three-state driver. That means it has two input circuits, A and B, which can be switched between a high-impedance OFF state and a low-impedance ON state. When the input is off, the output is in a high-impedance state. When the input is on, the output is in a low-impedance state. The output signal is then amplified by the driver circuit to provide the desired current and voltage output.

The SN75138D has a maximum output current of ±40mA and can be used in applications with a supply voltage up to 36V. All inputs are TTL and CMOS compatible, and the outputs are protected against transient voltage.

Due to its high-speed switching capabilities and low power consumption, the SN75138D can be used in a variety of applications such as interface to high-speed logic circuits, high-speed video switching, and multi-channel analog multiplexing.
