The SP232EET-L/TR is an integrated interface driver, receiver and transceiver used to interface two or multi-drop data cables in asynchronous or synchronous applications. It is ideal for shorter distance applications. This device is optimized to improve signal integrity, lowering system power consumption and providing excellent robustness and signal quality for asynchronous and synchronous data link applications.The SP232EET-L/TR device is designed to directly interface data communication lines to low-voltage logic in both asynchronous and synchronous applications. The transmit driver is designed to operate up to 115.2 Kbits/s while the receive section is designed to operate up to 120 Kbits/s. This means that the SP232EET-L/TR can support an asynchronous data rate of up to 230.4 Kbits/s while using the UART protocol.The SP232EET-L/TR provides a communication interface between digital systems and asynchronous or synchronous data link devices. This device contains a bus interface unit, buffers and a line driver/receiver. The bus interface unit contains the logic for processing the data and commands supplied by the microcontroller. It controls the functions of the line driver, receiver and transceiver units. The buffering section is responsible for isolating the line driver/receiver from the bus interface unit. The line driver consists of two open-collector transistors for providing the line signals to the interface, and an internal reference voltage source for the transistors, a line receiver which receives transmitted data from the line and also dual data rate capability for both the transmit buffer and the receive buffers. In addition, the device also has a separate receive and transmit error flags, a transmit enable signal and a full-duplex enable signal.The SP232EET-L/TR is designed to operate in a differential pair environment, enabling data transmission over noisy environments and data loss prevention due to one line fault. It has the capability to detect both open- and shorted-line fault conditions, and is able to provide both receive and transmit error flags. The device is designed to be compatible with standard 3-state interrupt and to have a programmable data latency that allows data to flow while it is still being derived from the host processor. The SP232EET-L/TR also includes an on-chip power-on reset circuit which ensures that all internal registers are reset and that the host processor can start working immediately when power is applied. This device is compatible with various voltage levels, allowing it to be used in various applications such as consumer electronics, automotive, industrial, and medical applications.In addition, the SP232EET-L/TR provides excellent system-level EMI performance. The connected devices have the capability to detect and address both crosstalk and EMI issues. The on-chip power-on reset eliminates the need for an external host processor to initiate the SP232EET-L/TR.In conclusion, the SP232EET-L/TR provides exceptional signal integrity and robustness, making it an excellent choice for interfacing data communication lines to low voltage logic in both asynchronous and synchronous applications.
