Working Principle

The SP233AEP–L is an RS–232 transceiver that works by transmittng data signals over a low voltage differential (LVD) signal line using signal pair switching. It operates with a supply voltage of 5 V and can withstand up to 11 kV of electrostatic voltage, making it suitable for applications in high EMR environments. The SP233AEP–L supports two levels of signal, a low logic level of -7V to -15V, and a high logic level of 7V to 15V, allowing for both level and logic switching.

The transceiver supports two modes of communication, asynchronous half–duplex and asynchronous full–duplex. In half–duplex mode, data is transmitted by the transmitter, and is received by the receiver and vice versa. In full–duplex mode, data is transmitted and received simultaneously on both channels in opposite directions. The SP233AEP–L has a built–in data rate of adjustable up to 250kbps and is capable of supporting a variety of popular data formats such as UART and SSC.
