TVS - Diodes, or Transient Voltage Suppression diodes, are widely used to provide protection against electrical transients. SP2504NUTG is one type of TVS diodes, which is originally designed to protect a devices from voltage overshoot or reverse polarity. The SP2504NUTG is an unidirectional diode that acts as a protective circuit between a device and its power supply. The diode combines the low clamping voltage of an Ultra Fast Silicon Avalanche Diode (UFSD) with the low series resistance of a low capacitance diode for a variety of applications. This SP2504NUTG has a maximum surge capability of 28A, so it can safely handle transient voltage surges through the device.

When the voltage flowing through the diode exceeds the maximum voltage rating of the diode, the diode will act as a short, limiting the voltage to the maximum rating and protecting the device.
