The SP3238EEA-L/TR is part of a robust line of transceivers used in many different applications. Each device provides an interface between the data lines and the circuitry framework. The SP3238EEA-L/TR is an integrated transceiver circuit, consisting of one receiver and one driver. The receiver of the SP3238EEA-L/TR senses the logic level of the incoming data, using a comparator circuit. In this configuration, the logic levels of the data are compared against the reference voltage of the Vref pin at the receiver, and the output is provided with either a logic low or logic high. The reference voltage is provided through an external resistor and is used to set the detection threshold of the data. When the threshold is met, the data is converted to either a logic 0 (low level) or a logic 1 (high level) and passed on to the driver.
The driver is designed to provide a maximum output voltage of up to 400-mV, making it ideal for a wide range of applications. The output of the driver is controlled by the input logic level of the data received by the receiver. If the logic level of the data is low (logic 0) then the output will remain low (ground). If the logic level of the data is high (logic 1) then the output will be electrically drawn to the VDD voltage.
The SP3238EEA-L/TR also includes various safety features to ensure optimal signal integrity. First, there is a slew-rate/delay control feature which limits the rate at which each driver’s output voltage can transition. This prevents data signal distortion, allowing the data to pass through without signal degradation.
