A Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) diode is a semiconductor device that is used to limit the voltage across a given load and to protect sensitive electrical components from transient voltage events. These transients may be caused from circuit switching, lightning, high currents, or ESD (electrostatic discharge).
The SP6001-06UTG-1 Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) diode is a 6.0V Nanosecond, unidirectional TVS diode designed to reduce signal EMI emissions. The SP6001-06UTG-1 is composed of two functional components: a Diode Array (DA) and a Thyristor-Based Composite TVS (TCA). The Diode Array (DA) portion of this device is a two-junction, low inductance, high power, series-connected diode assembly. This assembly is designed to reduce EMI emissions from signals. The Thyristor-Based Composite TVS (TCA) portion of the device is designed to limit the surge and transient voltage levels at the point of the device.
When a transient voltage spike or surge occurs, the TCA is activated and serves to absorb the energy and limit the voltage. It deals with high-current, high-energy transients allowing very little energy to follow the TVS diode. At the same time, the DA absorbs energy and reduces EMI emissions. The TCA also serves to protect the DA from damage due to transients.

It has very low dynamic resistance, low leakage current and excellent temperature stability.
