SP723ABG is one of the most popular and versatile types of TVS (Transient Voltage Suppression) – Mixed Technology devices. As a two-pair, double-ended electronics protection device, it is designed for applications with very high-dc working voltages ranging from 12V to 130V. It is well-suited for suppressing ESD (electrostatic discharge) and other transient voltage surges, as well as offering overvoltage and reverse polarity protection.

In practical applications, SP723ABG devices offer an optimal balance of speed, low reverse leakage current, and a consistent, reliable, and efficient protection. It is ideal for high-voltage applications such as DC motors, relays and switches, power supply, and other electrostatic sensitive devices. The working principle of the SP723ABG is that when a transient voltage is applied, or when overvoltage, reverse polarity, or ESD occurs, the device’s built-in protection circuit will detect it. Upon detection, the device’s built-in protection circuit will begin to work and prevent damages to the application by limiting the surge current. The device is then disconnected from the circuit, thereby protecting the device, the attached circuit, and any other related components.

The SP723ABG features a reverse-breakdown voltage rating of 7.3V and a typical capacitance of 9.5 pF (picofarads). It has an operating junction temperature range (-55°C to +150°C) and a maximum current rating of 10A for lower voltage transients such as ESD (electrostatic discharge) or EFT (electro-static pulses).

For additional protection, most models of the SP723ABG also feature an integrated Low-Voltage Protection (LVP) circuit. This will immediately detect and register any under-voltage of the input or output and will quickly disconnect the circuit before any damage to the device or related components can occur.
