Introduction

The SP7650ER-L is a multi-channel, DC-DC switching regulator integrated with both high- and low-side MOSFET drivers, a 500mA LDOs, clock buffers and regulators. The heavy MOSFETs allow for a wide range of application fields.It was designed for a wide range of applications including mobile phones, notebooks and hand-held electronics, and industrial control systems. It is available in a small 20 pin QFN package, providing a total solution set to address the design challenges associated with the power management of handheld devices, including a reduced BOM count, increased efficiency, improved real-time responsiveness and superior stability.

Working Principle

The SP7650ER-L is based on a DC-DC switching regulator architecture that uses a feedback voltage to control a power MOSFET switch. A switching regulator works by using a step-up inductor/diode network to convert an input voltage to a higher voltage and then storing energy in the inductor. When the power MOSFET switch is turned ON, energy is stored into the inductor and the output voltage rises. When the switch is turned OFF, the inductor\'s stored energy is discharged into the output and the output voltage is kept regulated. The SP7650ER-L also has a 500mA low-dropout (LDO) voltage regulator with a low-noise linear regulator, programmable clock buffer and voltage reference.
