SP7600EN2-L, a member of the PMIC - LED Drivers, is an intelligent and efficient two-channel controller tailored for driving medium to high power class LED backlights. This tiny and cost-effective solution has been designed with a very low power consumption, low external component counts and versatile in-system programming capabilities.

Widely utilized in LCD backlighting modules and LCD displays, the SP7600EN2-L application offers maximum flexibility to the system designer. It covers extremely wide VCC range (3.3V ~ 37V supply voltage), precisely controls the colors and light-intensity on each LED channel, and provides embedded protections such as over current limit & over/under Voltage protections. All this is backed by low power consumption and smart in-system programming features via I2C bus.

The working principle of the SP7600EN2-L basically consists of three main stages:

• Power Supply Stage: This part is responsible for generating the required voltage for the chip from the input DC voltage source. It provides a constant voltage rail and temperature compensating features to ensure long-term reliability and stable operation of the control system.
• Controller Stage: This stage deals with controlling the Brightness/Color of the LED and sets the corresponding current level to achieve through its two connected LED channels. It ensures the LED get constant current regardless of the difference in LED voltage.
• Safety & Protection Stage: This stage takes care of safety feature by providing constant Power-On-Reset (POR) feature and other programmable protection features such as over-voltage (OVP), under-voltage (UVP), over-current (OCP) and short-circuit (SCP) protection.

SP7600EN2-L offers maximum flexibility to the system designer and consists of several useful applications: it can be used to drive dimming LED panel with two separate LED channels, that offer manual/automatic dimming and also supports wide range of VCC & LED current level up to 150mA per channel. Furthermore, it is backlight-compatible with any combination of different LED types and color sequences, while also reducing cost & complexity of manual LED channel matching due to its programmable LED driver compensation. It provides the user with a high level of accuracy & control over brightness/color when channel mismatch is present.
