The PMIC-Supervisors family consists of several products, each providing voltage-management features to support new electronics as well as legacy designs. One of these products is the SP813LEN-L. The SP813LEN-L is a conduct-poly Voltage Supervisor (VS) whose purpose is to monitor battery voltage, system voltage, and/or other power-supply voltages to ensure product reliability and system robustness. The SP813LEN-L is designed to provide voltage-supervision support for a wide range of battery and power-supply types. Its adjustable voltage-trip levels combined with its configurable reset and alert output states make it suitable for both system initialization supervision and long-term monitoring. In addition, the SP813LEN-L has several features to ensure robust system performance during reset conditions. These features include a power-on reset (POR) circuit, an external reset input (RESIN) pin, an external voltage reference pin (VREF), and a timeout monitor circuit that can be configured for a variety of reset timing options.

As for battery-management applications, the SP813LEN-L can be used to supervise the voltage at the battery terminals, as well as the charging/discharging current. With the addition of an external power MOSFET, the device can be used as a high-side switch to enable/disable battery charging/discharging. The SP813LEN-L provides an alert input (ALERTIN) that can be used to monitor the charging/discharging status of the battery. Furthermore, the SP813LEN-L also has a voltage-drop detector that can detect an increase in battery inrush current, an over-current detector that can be used to detect an over-current condition, and a temperature-sensor input that can be used to monitor the temperature of the battery pack.
