. SS28 is a special single rectifier diode with a unique construction for use in the military, commercial and aerospace applications. It has an active breakdown voltage of 8.7V, reference voltage of -8V and forward current range of 10-20A. The diode is used in a variety of applications such as amplifier protection, power supply switching, DC-to-DC converter, detector and rectifier circuits.The SS28 diode is constructed with a gallium-doped monolithic silicon structure and features anode, cathode and guard electrodes. The guard electrode is connected to an additional external connection and can be used to reduce the forward voltage drop. The guard electrode also helps to reduce temperature-related shifts of the reverse recovery voltage.The SS28 is a single rectifier diode which is used for rectifying AC power using a half wave or full wave rectification. It is also used for linear regulators, oscillators, voltage regulators and as part of voltage reference circuits. The diode has a low forward voltage and fast switching time which makes it suitable for high frequency applications.In the linear regulator application, the SS28 diode is used together with an N-channel MOSFET to provide a regulated direct current source from an AC source. The diode is connected in series with the gate of the MOSFET and the source of the AC power. The diode ensures that the gate of the MOSFET remains at a constant potential, thus maintaining the reference voltage across the load regardless of the AC input.In the oscillator application, the SS28 diode is used in conjunction with a transistor to convert AC power into a regulated direct current. The diode is used to provide a stable reference voltage, while the transistor is used to switch the current on and off in order to create the oscillation.
