This technology uses two bridges, one of which is balanced under a reference pressure, the other being the pressure transducer whose output depends on the applied pressure. The two bridge circuits are connected in such a way that when the reference circuit is balanced, then the voltage of the transducer bridge circuit will depend on the applied pressure. When the bridge is subject to an external pressure, the voltage produced by the transducer changes and the output of the pressure sensor increases or decreases depending on the direction of the pressure change.The pressurisation of the bridge circuit is done by means of a diaphragm mounted on a stainless steel case, which is filled with a suitable hydraulic fluid or gas. The diaphragm is connected to the pressure valve, which in turn is connected to the external power source. The external power source regulates the pressure of the diaphragm, ensuring that it is always just below the threshold of the reference voltage.The pressure transducer itself is constructed with a Wheatstone bridge on a wafer made of semiconductor material.
