The SST25VF080B-80-4C-S2AE is a non-volatile memory device that utilizes embedded flash technology to retain data even when the power is switched off. The device has an 8-pin package and comes pre-programmed with a one-time programmable (OTP) serial number which is used to uniquely identify the device. The device can be programmed in-circuit or via a high-speed SPI serial programmable interface.
The device uses a three-stage internal pipeline architecture. During the first state, it has been written. During the second state, it has been read. After the program is written, the device reads it back and verifies it. During the third state, the device performs two operations; one, it programs the device with the written program and two, it checks for errors or incorrect values and then erases the entire sector where it was previously written.
The device is capable of performing write/erase operations at speed as high as 2.7Mbytes/s, which makes it highly suitable for application where fast programming is required. The device has a high data retention time of up to 10 years (at 85°C) and requires a VCC power supply of 2.7-3.6V DC. The device also has an Hardware Write Protection feature which helps in protecting the content from accidental writes.
