STEVAL-IFN003V1 Application Field and Working Principle

STEVAL-IFN003V1 is a type of evaluation and demonstration boards and kits developed, sold, and supported by STMicroelectronics. Its main purpose is to allow easy evaluation, demonstration, and development of STM32 and STSAFE-A100 solutions. The STEVAL-IFN003V1 consists of two separate boards, including the customer specific board and the programmer board, so that the customer specific board can be programmed with firmware from the programmer board. It contains two target MCUs, the STM32F030R8Tx microcontroller and the STSAFE-A100 secure element. The programmer board, on the other hand contains an STM32F030K6Tx microcontroller.In terms of application field, STEVAL-IFN003V1 is a secure element shield to help secure and authenticate online payments, support Crypto Libraries for secure wallet transactions, and authenticate users of electronic systems. It also supports cryptographic protection for messages transferred between two parties, as well as secure key storage.The working principle of STEVAL-IFN003V1 is based on its two constituent components, the programmer board and the customer specific board. The programmer board is used to program the customer specific board’s microcontroller with the application layer protocol of the customer specific board. The customer specific board contains the two target microcontrollers, and is the heart of the system. It communicates with the programmer board via the USART interface. After the customer specific board has been programmed, it can communicate with the outside world via interface, such as USART, I2C, SPI, or other types of communication interfaces. The STM32F030R8Tx microcontroller on the customer specific board contains a hardware crypto-accelerator, allowing applications such as cashless payment and secure authentication. The STM32F030R8Tx acts as the host for the secure element (STSAFE-A100) and allows for secure transactions, which is managed and signed with the onboard secure element. The STSAFE-A100 also allows for secure storage of cryptographic keys, allowing secure authentication and transactions. In order to guarantee secure authentication and transactions, the STSAFE-A100 also contains an independent Secure Element Memory (SEM), and a Public Cryptographic Keys (PCK) area. The SEM provides cryptographic key storage, while the PCK contains the public keys required for the cryptographic operations.Overall, STEVAL-IFN003V1 evaluation and demonstration boards and kits is a secure element shield that is used for secure and authentication of online payments, supporting Crypto Libraries for secure wallet transactions, and authenticating users of electronic systems, as well as providing cryptographic protection for messages transferred between two parties and secure key storage.
