The STEVAL-ILL026V1 Evaluation Board is a versatile LED driver system developed by STMicroelectronics. It is a highly integrated, low-cost evaluation platform developed for driving up to six strings of LEDs in a variety of applications ranging from automotive to stand-alone applications. This evaluation board is particularly suited for automotive applications, where precise, safe and efficient control of LED strings is required. The evaluation board is also suitable for application in other disciplines such as lighting, architecture and medical applications.
The STEVAL-ILL026V1 Evaluation Board is a ready-to-use system that consists of a main board and several sub-boards, including a step-down converter, a current-regulator IC, a microcontroller, and a four-stage LED driver with six channels. The evaluation board also has eight digital input terminals and four analog inputs.
The board contains several features that enable control of the LEDs. These include manual dimming control, power-on delay, cycling effects and fault protection. The board can be operated from a 9V-36V power source, and a 10K precision input potentiometer is provided for manual dimming. Additionally, the board can be pulse-width modulated with a frequency up to 3kHz. The power-on delay circuit is a unique feature of the evaluation board that enables the system to be powered up gradually.
The system is highly integrated, meaning it can be operated with a single power supply and no external components. It utilizes the STMicroelectronics STM32F103RC microcontroller to control the LED lighting functions. The STEVAL-ILL026V1 Evaluation Board also includes a fault protection feature, which is designed to protect against potentially hazardous conditions. This feature provides both low-voltage and over-voltage protection. It also includes up to four LEDs to indicate power status as well as diagnostic LEDs to detect short-circuits, over-voltage and over-temperature conditions. The evaluation board is shipped with USB-based software for easy control and configuration of the LEDs.
