The STEVAL-ISA031V1 is an evaluation board designed to allow quick and easy movement between buck and boost topologies. It adopts a universal input voltages (90 VAC-275 VAC), It is specifically designed for both isolated and non-isolated solutions up to 6 A. Its primary target application is offline AC/DC or DC/DC switch mode power supply (SMPS).It can be used to develop, to prototype and to benchmark solutions for applications such as industrial, consumer and consumer appliances.
This board brings together an integrated isolated switch-mode power supply (ISP) and a Vcc (up to 5V) in a single board for easy evaluation of applications. The board is specially designed to reduce the size and cost of existing designs and to improve the overall efficiency,power density,and ultimately the manufacturaibility.
The board is based on an isolated flyback controller with primary side sensing and control integrated into the FAN5385. The main functionalities of the controller include: high accuracy primary-side over current protection, input over current protection, output over voltage protection, input over voltage protection, over temperature protection, no load shut down,enabling option and control of the loop response. Additionally it provides synchronization capability and overcurrent protection. The board is a learning platform for the FAN5385, and includes a graphical user interface for development and evaluation.
In addition to the integrated controller and other supporting components, the board includes an additional FAN5385 driver, voltage regulator, transformer, bridge rectifier, 18-pin integrated circuit socket, and current sense resistor. These components help to create an efficient and reliable operating environment while making it easy to integrate the board into customer development.
The STEVAL-ISA031V1 provides users with a complete design solution that meets all of the necessary technical requirements. It allows EMI suppression with additional capacitors, regulation with integrated VCC, diagnostics monitor, output voltage adjustment and easy debugging. Moreover, it enables easy integration and evaluation of applications that require high power, high efficiency, low noise and low cost solutions.
The STEVAL-ISA031V1 utilizes the synchronous rectification mode for higher efficiency and is capable of delivering up to 6 A of current. When operating in the buck topology, it can deliver up to 12 V of output voltage up to 83% efficiency. Additionally, when operating in the boost topology, it can deliver up to 15 V of output voltage up to 78% efficiency.
The board is also equipped with a graphical user interface that allows the user to make adjustments to the chip parameters, as well as to monitor various conditions. It also provides connectivity to the chip\'s over-voltage, over current and thermal protection circuits. This graphical user interface helps to ensure high efficiency and reliable operation.
