It is based on a topology of half bridge modulation.The evaluation board provides an isolated output stage comprising two rectifier diodes, two film capacitors and insulation material between the primary and secondary circuits to guarantee a safe operation.The high voltage side is equipped with a resistive divider, a voltage sensing circuit, EMI filter, and a parasitic current clamp to protect the MOSFETs from overloading.The board features a primary side control circuit, including PFC control, overcurrent protection, input rectification and protection against abnormal hot-plugging.The primary control is based on a digital control integrated circuit (IC) with an integrated pulse width modulation (PWM) controller and integrated self current-mode control (SCM) loop, allowing a rapid set-up of the operating point and operation under a wide variety of conditions.In addition, a power Factor Correction (PFC) circuit is built into the board, which allows the user to measure and optimize the power factor of the supply, as well as reducing the input side current harmonics and minimize electromagnetic interference (EMI).Finally, an overvoltage protection (OVP) circuit is included in the board, which protects the power supply from overvoltage situations by cutting off part of the output voltage.ConclusionThe STEVAL-ISA053V1 is an adequate application board for applications related to DC/DC and AC/DC (off-line) SMPS.
