The STEVAL-ISA141V2 is a high performance evaluation board specifically designed for DC/DC and AC/DC (off-line) smps. This application field covers a wide range of products such as switching mode power supplies, switched mode power sensors, and more. This evaluation board is equipped with a High-Performance Free-Scale Fruits and Veggies (FRF10) motor controller for high accuracy measurements of power supply input voltages and currents.

The STEVAL-ISA141V2 evaluation board is designed to evaluate the performance, efficiency, as well as the thermal behavior of offline SMPSs. It allows users to assess the input power quality and measure the efficiency level of different DC/DC and AC/DC (off-line) SMPSs. It also features onboard MCU that displays various parameters such as output power and current on an LCD.

The main features of the STEVAL-ISA141V2 evaluation board includes a full MOSFET and IGBT complement, built-in power factor controller, control circuit design for voltage and current mode regulation, pulsewidth modulation (PWM) as a function of the duty cycle of the input voltage, over-current protection, short-circuit protection, load protection, and thermal protection.

The FRF10 motor controller of STEVAL-ISA141V2 evaluation board implements different control algorithms, such as the peak current mode, the temperature feedback compensation algorithm, and adaptive on- the-fly control, for power supply input voltages and currents. The FRF10 controller can also provide up to 6kW of continuous output power from the wide input voltage range (from 180 VAC to 264 VAC).

The STEVAL-ISA141V2 evaluation board is also equipped with diagnostic LEDs to indicate the operating status of the board, reset button, protection circuit, and two isolated channels for measuring the total input power. The board also supports several power modules, such as the 4-in-1 rectifier module, and the current sensor module.

The working principle of the STEVAL-ISA141V2 evaluation board is based on the pulse width modulation, which is the most popular technique used by modern AC/DC power supplies to control the output voltage and current of the power supply.
