The STEVAL-MKI014V1 evaluation board is an analog front-end for inclination, angular rate and temperature sensing that can be used for a variety of motion and environmental sensing applications. The board is based on three integrated sensors—an L3G4200D three-axis digital angular-rate sensor, an LIS3DH three-axis digital accelerometer, and an ST3X97 digital temperature sensor. The L3G4200D is a three-axis digital angular-rate sensor which contains a gyroscope with a range of up to 2000°/s and an operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C in a low-power, low-voltage module. The high-performance LIS3DH three-axis accelerometer provides digital output data through SPI/I2C with a range of ±2/±4/±8/±16g and an operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C. The ST3X97 integrates a temperature sensitive element, an analog output driver, and an SPI/I2C digital interface and has an operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C.
The STEVAL-MKI014V1 evaluation board runs on both I2C and SPI communications protocols, allowing for fast, easy integration into existing systems. In addition, the STEVAL-MKI014V1 board comes with on-board jumpers, allowing users to quickly switch between different communication protocols and modes without having to go through any tedious reconfiguration. The evaluation board also includes current-sense resistors to enable the board to measure the current consumption of the sensors, as well as a reset pin to allow users to reset the system at any time.
The main purpose of the STEVAL-MKI014V1 is to make it easier for developers to quickly test and develop applications that take advantage of the integrated sensors.
