The Evaluation boards - Sensors range from Microchip Technology includes the STEVAL-MKI176V1 which provides a ready to use platform to evaluate and implement motion sensing solutions. The platform can be used with a range of technologies, including accelerometers, gyroscopes and other inertial sensors. The STEVAL-MKI176V1 provides a wide range of features and functions, allowing users to generate their own custom applications, easily manage and configure the device, access Sensor Data and control outputs.
The STEVAL-MKI176V1 comprises a two-layer evaluation board which comprises of a primary microcontroller (MCU) board and an extension board. The primary MCU board combines an ARM Cortex-M4 microcontroller with a range of peripherals. This includes a Cortex-M4F microcontroller alongside a range of general-purpose input/outputs (GPIOs), analog inputs, a CAN transceiver, an 8-bit ADC, an LED, a buzzer, two push button switches, and interfaces for an accelerometer, a gyroscope, an ECompass, and a USB port. The evaluation board also has a 32kB on-board Flash memory, two USART ports, an I2C port, an USB port and a range of other features.
The extension board provides a range of connectivity options, enabling access to a range of other microcontroller peripherals such as an LCD display, two 10-bit ADC inputs, and dual CAN transceivers. It also provides access to several interfaces which can be used to connect to other external devices, such as an I2C bus, a USB port, an Ethernet port, a GPS receiver, and a Serial Peripheral Interface Bus (SPI).
The STEVAL-MKI176V1 enables users to easily implement motion sensing solutions via a comprehensive set of software libraries. These libraries provide support for the onboard MCU, accelerometer, gyroscope, and ECompass, allowing the user to access and log data from each of these devices.
