STEVAL-TLL013V1 which belongs to the family of Evaluation Boards - LED Drivers, is a fully integrated two channel driving board with four PWM dimmable white LEDs reference design. Based on coherent optical communication control like the Bluetooth Low Energy Classic, it is designed to demonstrate the capability of the TLC59116. The featured components include an Optical Beacon for inductive charging and MEMS microphone for controlling brightness by voice.

Working principle
The STEVAL-TLL013V1 follows the same system-on-chip (SoC) architecture as other NXP Evaluation Boards - LED Drivers. The TLC59116 is the main driving part for the system and consists of DC-DC converters, Charge-Pump VREG, PWM dimmable drivers and shunt current regulation for each channel. The TLC59116 will receive the input power from the rectified AC mains and convert it to a high efficiency DC-DC step down buck boosting regulator.
The buck boosting regulators can support up to 19V Vin and 5V Vo respectively. The DC-DC converter is usually used to provide a relatively stable voltage across the LEDs. It also can generate PWM signals or through adjust the clock frequency to provide dimming.
The suite also contains the opticon beacon sense which allows the board to detect wireless power and the MEMs microphone, adds sound-control over the LEDs brightness. The driver core is controlled by the TLC59116, which can be configured over the I2C bus with SCL and SDA pins. The LED driver will be connected using I2C bus to the master device.
