Abstract:This article discusses the application field and working principle of STLQ015M25R.This PMIC is a voltage regulator of Linear type. It provides accurate, low-power and low-noise power regulation solution for various systems and devices. It helps reduce system power consumption and extends battery life.
Introduction:
STLQ015M25R is a three-terminal 1.5A adjustable voltage regulator of the Linear type. It offers an extremely low output noise voltage, high accuracy and low power consumption. It is designed to control and regulate the output voltage of a power supply to ensure that the device or system runs efficiently and reliably. This PMIC series operates over a wide input voltage range of 9V - 24V and provides an adjustable output voltage range of 1.2V to 24V. It also comes with built-in current limit protection and wide temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
Application Field:
STLQ015M25R is suitable for multiple application fields and provide power solution for various devices. Generally, the linear voltage regulators are used for the power supplies of digital circuits, frequency dividers, analog circuits, logic circuits, micro-processors, portable electronics, telecom equipment and automotive products which need precise output voltage regulation.
Working Principle:
STLQ015M25R uses a voltage control method to adjust the output voltage. This method is based on a voltage regulation loop, which allows the output voltage to remain constant even when the load or input voltage changes. The voltage regulation loop includes an output voltage sensing circuitry, a voltage error amplifier and an error amplifier output driving the transistor, as shown in fig.1 below.

When the input voltage V IN is applied, it is compared to the reference voltage V REF and any difference between them is amplified to generate a control voltage V CTRL . The control voltage drives the output voltage by controlling the current in the output transistor. The output voltage V OUT is then regulated to maintain a constant level within certain conditions. Since the regulated output voltage is generally lower than the input voltage, the linear voltage regulator also acts as a voltage divider.
