The board is built to support up to four 1G Ethernet transceivers to be connected via an interface board which has two 1 × 3 connectors. Both copper and optical SFP transceivers can be used on the interfaces. This makes the board suitable for development using both copper and optical SFP transceivers.In addition, the STM1E-SFP-EVK also provides an Ethernet PHY (physical layer) transceiver, as well as a high-speed SERDES transceiver. The PHY transceiver can be connected to the four interface boards to provide the network layers necessary for the complete system. The SERDES transceiver is necessary for applications that require evaluation and demonstration of different types of high-speed bit rates, such as up to 10 Gb/s.The STM1E-SFP-EVK evaluation and demonstration board and kit offer various advantages to developers in terms of cost-effectiveness and the ability to verify various network and bit rate requirements before production.
