In order to detect an overvoltage or an overcurrent, the voltage detector compares the measured voltage levels with the reference voltage thresholds and the current detector compares the measured current levels with the reference current thresholds. Once the detector detects an over voltage or an over current occurrence, it will pull the output pin, indicating the alarm and the protection to the power supply line.

In addition, the device offers thermal shutdown protection by monitoring the temperature of its own power switch. When the temperature reached higher than the normal working temperature level, the device will immediately pull the output pin, informing the monitoring systems about the alarm and protection for the power supply line.

The STM707M6E also has a reset output. This provides an output pulse when the power supply voltage reaches a predetermined level. The reset output pin provides a reset indication when the power supply voltage rises above a programmable set voltage. The device also includes a disable input pin, in order to enable or disable the system.
