STM8S-DISCOVERY is an evaluation board, specifically targeted at embedded applications which require an MCU, DSP or ARM processor. The board is designed to be used in conjunction with an included software development kit, which includes all the necessary drivers, code examples, debugging tools and more. The STM8S-DISCOVERY was designed to be a complete solution for evaluating and prototyping embedded applications. It is a highly versatile, low cost evaluation board which includes an onboard STM8S103F3 64- pin microcontroller, as well as various other components such as LEDs, pushbutton and an LCD display. The board also includes an accelerometer and an RF link module. The integrated accelerometer is used for orientation sensing and acceleration data measurements, while the RF link module is used for communication with other STM8S-DISCOVERY boards or remotely located devices. The onboard STM8S103F3 microcontroller features 5KB RAM, 128KB Flash, 16-bit timer/counter with PWM, I2C, SPI, UART, and a 10-bit ADC. It also includes several low power features, such as low power loop and standby mode, which can be used to reduce power consumption. In addition to the onboard microcontroller, the STM8S-DISCOVERY evaluation board includes an integrated programmer which can be used to program and debug the board. The integrated programmer also allows for quick and easy firmware upgrades. The STM8S-DISCOVERY evaluation board is fully compatible with the STM8 development environment for 32/64-bit Windows and Linux, as well as the ST Visual Develop (STVD) integrated development environment. The board also integrated with GCC and IAR Embedded Workbench for programming and debugging in the field.
