The SVP21-5,08 application field and working principle is a high-speed optical module designed for high-end FTTx applications. It is widely used in the fields of long-distance communication, broadband access, optical fiber networks and more. The module is available in a variety of configurations such as, single fiber, bi-directional splitter/combiner, stage 3 splitter/combiner, as well as 9/125/200 μm fiber and EDFAs.

The SVP21-5,08 is based on a Multi Mode Interferometer (MMIF). It is a two-way integrated transmission system consisting of two co-propagating optical signal modes. The dual-path interferometer will selectively switch between two or more transmission modes maintaining the integrity of the data being regenerated at the receiving end. The core components of the device are an input and output optical single mode fiber pigtail and a pair of Faraday mirrors. The pigtails are constructed so that the light is transmitted along the optical path on one side and reflected back along the same path on the other side. The Faraday mirror is a type of optical interference device that alters the phase of the returning light.

The device features high-speed optical switching and low optical contamination. The switching rate for the component is up to 40 MS/s, while the optical insertion loss is minimal. The device operates in the wavelength range of 350-550 nm. because of its high sensitivity, the module can detect the slightest variation in the quality of the transmitted signals. It is highly reliable and suitable for harsh environmental conditions.

The working principle of the SVP21-5,08 is based on the dual-path interferometer technology. This is an advanced technology that combines two optical channels into one for the transmission of data. It works by reflecting the lightwaves from one channel through a Faraday mirror towards a second channel. As the lightwaves pass through the second channel, they travel in two different directions, while changing their phase along the way. The combined phase of the two optical signals is determined by the degree of the interaction between the two lightwaves.

The device also utilizes the principles of optical correlation and time multiplexing to effect a much higher speed data switching. In this process, data signals are split into two different channels and sent in opposite directions. When they reach the other end, they are recombined by using a time-division multiplexing technique. Then, with the help of optical correlation techniques, the device can detect the difference in the optical signals and effectively detect the presence or absence of the signals. This way, the device can switch between two or more data channels at a very high speed.
