The SY55852UKI is a type of logic gate which falls under the category of Flip Flops. A Flip Flop is a circuit which can store one digital state at any given period of time. It is a combination of multiple logic gates that allow data to be stored within the Flip Flop\'s registers. The SY55852UKI consists of two data input terminals, a set/Reset Flip Flop, and a latch mode Flip Flop.

The two data input terminals are labeled D and Clear, with D being the data input and Clear the state reset terminal. D will accept either a high (1) or low (0) logic value, where a low logic value is considered to be zero volts. Depending on the logic value received, the set/Reset Flip Flop will act as either a true or false logic gate. A low voltage on the Clear input will cause the Flip Flop to reset to its initial state.

The result of the set/Reset Flip Flop is then sent to the latch mode Flip Flop. The latch mode Flip Flop is what actually stores the data. It consists of a D and S input as well as a Q and /Q output. D and S work together to accept either a positive or negative logic, determining whether the data is to be stored or not. If the latch mode receives a positive logic at the D and S inputs, it will output a high logic at the Q output and a low logic at the /Q output.
