When a signal is applied to the trigger gate, the TRIAC itself changes from a low conduction state to a high conduction state. Once activated, the T820-800W continues to conduct current until the current flow is stopped. The current flow is stopped if the voltage of the main terminal is reduced to below a certain level. This action is known as "crowbarring".The T820-800W is a standard SOT-363 package which was specifically designed to minimize the interaction between devices and the load when switching high currents.
