TC4422CAT is a PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit) device designed specifically for Gate Drivers (GDs) applications. The device is designed to control the switching from low side to high side (H-bridge) or vice versa in the GD\'s system.

The major purpose of a GD is to minimize the time required for a H-bridge transition, providing low Rds(On) during the transition. The TC4422CAT is specially designed to drive two high side Mosfets and two low side Mosfets. The device is engineered in such a way that it maximizes the efficiency, improves the system reliability and operational performance.

The output circuitry is based on a class AB amplifier design. It includes three major stages of operation; the Pre driver stage, the Drive stage, and the Post driver stage. The Pre driver stage consists of an input circuit which is used to provide the desired drive current level. The drive stage comprises of an output circuit with a current booster providing a high voltage charge to the capacitor when the high side device is triggered. Lastly, the post driver stage is the final driving stage that controls the operation of the low side device.

The operation of the TC4422CAT GD device is based on the switching operation of a P-type and an N-type Mosfet. The operation of the Mosfets is controlled by enable signals; when the enable signal is high, the Mosfets will be connected in series, causing current to flow from the output circuitry to the FET. Once the enable signals have been triggered, the current flows for a short period of time and then turns off, allowing the high and low side drivers to switch and the next cycle can begin.
