The TC514CPJ is an Analog Front-End (AFE) device in Data Acquisition technology. It is a single chip, low power 14-bit A/D converter that provides a complete solution for multiple-channel data acquisition applications.
The TC514CPJ features a wide range of input voltage ratings (7V to +12V common mode) and an adjustable conversion rate from 6.66kHz to 25kHz. It also has an on-chip digital filter for signal conditioning and offers an adjustable filter bandwidth of 0.4 to 22kHz. The device also includes an internal temperature sensor, configurable interrupt and data ready signal, a highly accurate internal reference and a single-ended track-and-hold amplifier. All of these features make the TC514CPJ ideal for use in a variety of applications including temperature-monitoring, security systems, remote data acquisition, and industrial control.
The TC514CPJ is also capable of being used in multiple channel applications. In this mode, up to 32 channels can be sampled independently, providing a high-resolution, multi-channel data acquisition solution. The device also includes configurable output channels and an optional Digital Pulse Width Modulation (DPWM) feature for controlling multiple digital devices.
The TC514CPJ utilizes proprietary signal processing techniques to provide a low-power, high accuracy solution for data acquisition applications. The device employs an adaptive loop filter that maintains its peak performance over a wide range of conversion speeds. This adaptive loop also modulates the input frequency and amplitude for improved signal-to-noise performance. The working principle of the TC514CPJ is based on a combination of the Delta-Sigma and Sigma-Delta data conversion technologies. This combination produces a single-bit pulse-width modulated (PWM) output proportional to the input signal, with a dynamic input range of 0.0 to 4.0V. The PWM output is processed through a low-pass filter and then digitized to produce an output word representing the input voltage.
The TC514CPJ also incorporates a self-calibration feature to ensure accurate levels and readings of the incoming signals. The device also includes a built-in offset adjustment feature which can be used to trim the DAC output. This capability allows the user to adjust the device for more accurate readings.
