TC7662AIJA is a DC-DC switching regulator designed for applications such as PC motherboards and peripherals, desktop and laptop computers, consumer products, automotive, and telecommunications equipment. It provides a wide range of output voltages and currents, an extended operating temperature range, as well as low-ripple noise operation in a compact SIP package. The TC7662AIJA is an integrated circuit that is capable of converting a DC voltage source to an adjustable DC load voltage. The TC7662AIJA features various features that provide significant control and flexibility, allowing designers to optimize their designs for specific applications.
The TC7662AIJA contains two channels of DC-DC switching regulators with internal MOSFET switches, each of which can provide up to 1.2A continuous current. Each channel can accept an input of up to 20V, and can be programmed from 0.8V to 20V in 10mV steps using the external dip-switch. The output voltage is also adjustable via the external dip-switch in 10mV steps. Additionally, the TC7662AIJA offers over-voltage and over-current protection, as well as short-circuit protection to prevent damage to the device and the load.
When the TC7662AIJA is powered up, the two MOSFETs inside it are switched to the OFF position, preventing the output from supplying current to the load. The current draw from the input is also cut off. The MOSFETs are then switched ON for an appropriate amount of time, depending on the programmed voltage level, thus supplying current to the load. The amount of time the MOSFETs remain ON is determined by an internal Oscillator and is referred to as the Oscillator Frequency, or OSCf. The OSCf also determines the amount of current drawn from the input, and consequently how much power is supplied to the load.
The TC7662AIJA also features a control logic circuit, which is used to adjust the switching behavior in order to provide a stable operating voltage. This control is implemented by comparing the output voltage to the reference voltage, and applying a correction signal to the MOSFETs accordingly. Additionally, the TC7662AIJA features an active-pulse-width modulation (APWM) circuit, which prevents large load transient disturbances. The APWM circuit has two constants, the reference voltage and the APWM frequency.
The TC7662AIJA is designed for use in a wide range of applications that require a low power, high-performance, low-noise DC-DC switching regulator with a wide input voltage range and a wide output voltage range.
