The TCR2LF30, LM is a linear voltage regulator that provides solutions for application fields requiring current up to 30 A and voltage ranging from 5 V to 60 V. It has been designed to provide a cost-effective alternative to current balancers and switching regulators in car radio, automotive accessories and applications involving miniaturized power supplies.
Based on a low-ESR ceramic capacitor layout and using an op amp for feedback control, the TCR2LF30, LM is built on an advanced surface mount technology. It is designed to operate in various temperature conditions and can be combined with a wide variety of input and output filters to achieve the required stability.
TCR2LF30,LM is a low-voltage output forward-mode power regulator. It operates with an input voltage range of 5V–60V and a maximum output current of 30A. The output voltage of the regulator is internally set by a three-pin voltage-setting resistor and can be also externally adjusted. A high gain control loop stabilizes the output voltage of the regulator. In addition, it has an over-voltage protection level that prevents damage to the load by breaking the input current before the output voltage rises too high.
TCR2LF30,LMs low-frequency current regulation combines two benefits:
- It enables a smaller size, since the frequency of operation is lower than that of a high frequency power regulator.
- It improves power efficiency, since its low- frequency modulation in the ON and OFF cycles of the power transistor reduces the power losses.
When combined with the two-stage filter design, the TCR2LF30, LM delivers a very high power density, up to 30A/in2, which is more than double the power density of a traditional low-voltage switching regulator.
