Working Principle of TCR2LN12,LF Linear Regulator:

The TCR2LN12,LF linear regulator operates on the basic principle of Zener diode voltage reference. A Zener diode is a special kind of diode which can maintain an almost constant voltage when the current is increased through it. This voltage regulation is based on the voltage drop across the base-emitter junction of a bipolar junction transistor. A voltage divider is set up between the Zener diode and another resistor. When the input voltage increases, it acts on the Zener diode and causes its voltage to increase. This increases the base to emitter voltage which decreases the transistor\'s collector to emitter voltage and thus results in regulation of the output. The other resistor determines the output voltage of the regulator. In this way, the voltage regulator can provide extremely accurate output without any adjustment to the output.

The TCR2LN12,LF linear regulator supports the Disable Output Pin. The output voltage of the regulator is disabled by taking the DISx pin to low voltage. It withstands transient voltage spikes up to 10V and is short-circuit protection. It also supports the current limiting and thermal shutdown functions.
