The TDA5235XUMA1 device is part of the TDA5x family of RF Receivers, capable of receiving signals from 130MHz to over 1000MHz. The dual-conversion receiver includes an RF front-end and demodulation section for stable operation and improved performance overall.

The RF front-end section of the receiver includes LNA, variable gain amplifier (VGA) and mixer. An adjustable band-pass filter (BPF) is also included to optimize signal selection and reduce noise in the incoming signal. The output of the mixer is sent to a frequency conversion stage which converts the signal from HF to LF prior to the demodulation section. Once the signal reaches the demodulation section, it is further processed using an integrated signal processor, allowing for a variety of demodulation techniques such as AM, FM, and digital (including GMSK).

The switchable high IF gain amplifier (HIFGA) allows for a highly sensitive IF stage, resulting in improved receive performance. Additionally, the HIFGA can also be used in conjunction with the VGA to optimize signal selection in noisy environments.

The TDA5235XUMA1 can also be configured for different signal acquisition and detection algorithms such as I/Q demodulation and signal equalization. The integrated signal processor can also be used to perform frequency and signal strength calculations in order to determine the suitability of the signal for further processing. Additionally, the receiver can also be used to re-tune to a different frequency or channel in order to obtain a better signal reception.
