Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are widely used in many applications due to their high energy density and performance. The TE1068-E3 aluminum electrolytic capacitor is the latest development in the field and is designed for use in a range of applications, including automotive, aerospace, medical and military.
The TE1068-E3 is an axial-leaded cylindrical capacitor with a solid aluminum oxide dielectric. It is available in two sizes, Ø25mm and Ø30mm, and has a capacitance range of 0.1uF to 330uF. The standard operating temperature range is -40°C to +125°C. It features a low equivalent series resistance (ESR) and high ripple current capability.
The working principle of the TE1068-E3 depends on the movement of electric charge between two conductive plates that are separated by an insulating material. The two plates, known as electrodes, are separated by a dielectric material that can be changed to alter the capacitance of the device. The electrodes are made of aluminum, and the dielectric material is formed from aluminum oxide. Together they form a rough surface area that increases the surface area of the plates and therefore increases the capacitance of the device.
When an external source, such as a battery, is connected to the capacitor, electric charge is stored at the two electrodes. The positive charge is stored on one electrode and the negative charge on the other, creating an electric field between them.
