The TEA6853HN/V102K includes a host of features such as low power consumption of 2.6mA typical and minimum supply voltage of 2.5V. It also eliminates external SAW filter in many applications. Additionally, it offers using HF/IF circuits, along with a high quality spark suppression and high selectivity. It comes with digital input pins to select IC frequency such as Frequency Selection (FS), RST/REQ and AM/FM selectivity. Stereo decoding is then done by the digital low IF circuit.
The working principle of TEA6853HN/V102K is based on four major steps including reception, IF selectivity, signal demodulation and stereo decoding. During reception, low noise amplifier (LNA) amplifies weak signals starting from 50MHz to 1090MHz frequency range and is then sent to the mixer. After mixer, intermediate frequency (IF) is obtained which is used for further signal amplification and to determine signal selectivity.
In order to enhance signal selectivity, IF selectivity stage is used which consists of IC circuit and bandpass filters. IC circuit uses digital programming pins which include Frequency Selection (FS), RST/REQ, AM/FM selectivity pins, etc. Bandpass filter then eliminates unwanted parallel resonance frequencies and enables selectivity.
Now, at the demodulation stage the received IF frequency is mixed with the local oscillator signal and the left and right channels information is obtained. This is then sent to internal stereo decoder using digital input pins like audio mute, low frequency suppression, automatic gain control, etc. This decoder then extracts audio information from left and right channels and is amplified using the low power audio power amplifier in the device.
The TEA6853HN/V102K is a versatile IC having wide application fields in portable, multimedia and battery powered radio receivers, modulators for SMPS systems, AV receivers and FM base stations. With its low power consumption of only 2.6mA typical, it eliminates the need of having external SAW filter in many applications. In addition, its working principle is also quite simple, thus making it an ideal choice for such applications.
