Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are stored in electric field, and the non-solid dielectric of electrolytic capacitors is mainly aluminum oxide. The aluminum oxide only exists as a thin film on the surface of the aluminum, and is randomly generated in the tiny pores of the aluminum material. Therefore, generally speaking, the amount of aluminum oxide is very small, and it has to be made into a cylindrical shape in the actual application process.

THAS531M100AC1C is a series of aluminum electrolytic capacitors which is specially designed for use in the high frequency switching power supply. This series of aluminum electrolytic capacitors is mainly used in power supply, widely used in consumer electronics, telecommunications, computer industry, DC power supply, switching power supply, etc. This series of aluminum electrolytic capacitors typically feature a high capacitance, low equivalent series resistance (ESR), and wide frequency range. It also has additional features like over-voltage and surge protection, dynamic charge/discharge characteristics, and temperature stability.

The working principle of THAS531M100AC1C aluminum electrolytic capacitors is based on the reverse electroplating process. The active material of the aluminum electrolytic capacitor is anodic aluminum oxide and it serves as an insulator. When there is a potential difference across the capacitor, a small amount of ions from the electrolyte solution will penetrate the oxide layer and the anodic aluminum oxide layer is then polarized and the electrolyte acts as a catalyst to form an electric double layer on the surface of the aluminum surface. This process is the equivalent of a reverse electroplating process in a capacitor. In this way, electrons are drawn from the metal and deposited into the oxide layer.

The aluminum electrolytic capacitor of this series has the characteristics of large capacity, low ESR, small leakage current, and wide frequency response. Its overall performance is much better than other types of capacitors, making it the preferred choice for high frequency switching power supplies. In addition, it also has features such as over-voltage and pulse protection, dynamic charging and discharging characteristics, and good temperature stability.
