Data Acquisition - Analog to Digital Converters (ADC) plays an important role in the modern industry and laboratory environment. It is the process of converting analog signal into digital signal to obtain useful information. The highly developed THS1031CDWR application field and working principle plays in a key role in the data acquisition process and provides a unique solution for long range sensing, RF sensing and other high-resolution signal processing applications.
The ADCs allow to measure analog information stored in such values as voltage, current, temperature, and pressure and convert it into a digital representation. This digital representation can then be used to enable the selection of the corresponding values from a predefined range. THS1031CDWR is a 10bit, dual channel, single-slope, SAR A/D converter with differential sampling stage, suitable for low latency and low power data acquisition applications. It features low power operation between 0.7V to 3.6V and low noise input range from 0.2V to 3.3V.
The THS1031CDWR combines the accuracy of a delta-sigma analog-to-digital converter with the high speed of a SAR ADC to achieve excellent relative accuracy and signal to noise ratio (SNR). This is achieved by taking multiple measurements of the signal and then selecting a subset of the samples that are most reliable. The integral Delta-Sigma modulator digitizes the signal by taking a single analog input and using a variable number of triangulated comparators to sample it in discrete intervals. The resulting discrete output is then converted to digital format and stored in dual-channel registers.
The low-latency input provides excellent noise immunity and high accuracy performance. The Type D differential inputs reduce ground loop noise and provide a wide dynamic range for accurate data conversion for difficult noise environments. The THS1031CDWR also features an integrated clockless sampling rate selection which offers high-speed sampling rates up to 10 MS/s and low-speed sampling rates down to 50 ks/s.
The high-bandwidth architecture of the THS1031CDWR is used to eliminate the need for external sampling clocks, which reduces component count and power consumption. The wide bandwidth allows for excellent reject ratios for high speed input data, as well as wide range support for low frequency input. The flexible architecture supports up to 4 simultaneous A/D conversions and channel-to-channel compensation to ensure time-gating and low system jitter.
The THS1031CDWR offers a package of advanced features and capabilities which make it an ideal solution for high-speed, high-accuracy data acquisition applications.
