Optoisolators, also known as optocouplers, are devices that provide electrical isolation between two circuits with the aid of light transfer. One type of optoisolator is the Transistor, Photovoltaic Output (TIL111VM) optoisolator that isolates two circuits with the aid of a light-emitting diode (LED) and a phototransistor. The TIL111VM optoisolator is primarily used in systems that require a high degree of electrical isolation in low or medium voltage applications.

The TIL111VM optoisolator has a number of different applications including switch isolation, ignition system control, low-voltage shunt monitors, signal transfer, and audio detection. It can also be used as an on/off switching detection element in microcontrollers.
