The TL1431MDREP is a voltage reference with PMIC classification, connected to a regulated power supply such as a linear regulator, a non-isolated DC-DC switching regulator, or a low-dropout regulator, providing an accurate and stable reference voltage for feedback regulation of the regulated voltage at the output. The reference voltage is selected from a maximum reference voltage of 10V, with adjustable voltage that ranges from 0.8V to 2.6V. With excellent temperature coefficient, better than 2.2mV/°C, suitable for low-voltage systems, and varying times that range from 5ms β to 25ms β, it is ideally suited for mobile, battery-powered applications.

The TL1431MDREP is thermally stable and has low noise, thanks to the design of the trimmable band-gap voltage reference circuit. The circuit includes an asynchronous input, a trimming resistor, and a higher output. The circuit also includes a temperature compensation zero error amplifier, which compensates for the offset between input and output sections, as well as a gain adjust amplifier, which provides accurate control of the reference voltage. The reference voltage can be trimmed by fine-adjustment of the trimming resistor, which is connected to the trimming pins. The VCO input (VIN) pin is connected to the output of a linear regulator, allowing the user to control the output of the regulator by setting a desired reference voltage at the VIN pin. The regulation of the output voltage is ensured by the feedback network.

The TL1431MDREP also has excellent dynamic characteristics, allowing for fast transient response with no measurable overshoot or undershoot. The device is designed primarily to achieve rapid current regulation, while providing excellent temperature stability, as well as steady-state regulation. The device also has excellent latch-up immunity and operates over a wide temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.

The TL1431MDREP is well-suited for use in power management applications in mobile phones and PDAs, DSP systems, embedded controllers, and battery charger current estimator circuits.
