TL780–05KCS is an advanced three-terminal adjustable voltage regulator IC with just a 1.5V dropout voltage and a maximum output current of 5A. It is specifically designed for applications needing to have low operating current and little quiescent current offset. The TL780–05KCS has an innovative working principle. It operates by controlling the key parameters of current and voltage without relying on a switching device like a transistor. It has an internal bandgap reference to regulate the voltage on its output terminal. This is then further regulated by an internal temperature-compensated voltage reference circuit. The output voltage is set by adjusting the external resistors connected to its adjustable terminal (Adj pin).The TL780–05KCS uses an thermal shutdown circuit in its IC architecture to prevent heat buildup in the IC. It also has a short-circuit protection circuit that limits the output current to a preset value. If the regulated output voltage is too low, the IC will shutdown and its output terminal will be in high impedance. In short, the TL780–05KCS is an adjustable voltage regulator IC with excellent stability, low current consumption, and full protection from output over-voltage and over-current.
