Working Principle

The TLC279IDRG4 device is composed of two instrumentation amplifiers (IA) and four programmable gain amplifiers (PGA), each with a maximum gain of 128. The parts are connected in a dual-channel configuration and can be designed to provide an input stage of up to 256 gain. The device features three differential inputs and a single polarity output. The reference input is connected to a 2.5V reference voltage. The gain of each internal PGA is set by programming the reference voltage to the corresponding output resistor. The device operates on a single 2.5V AVdd power supply, and is easily configured for unipolar and bipolar operations.

The output stage of the TLC279IDRG4 is a rail-to-rail amplifier which provides a precise linear transfer characteristics from a differential voltage input to an output voltage. The output of the amplifier is connected to a single-ended output pin which allows the output voltage range to extend beyond the supply voltage when operated unipolarly. The device is capable of driving capacitive and resistive loads up to three thousand pF, and has a maximum output current of 20mA.
