The TLP265J is an optoisolator part of the Triac, SCR Output family. It is designed for AC power line control in general purpose power and sound equipment applications. It provides high galvanic insulated on-off transistor control that facilitates control of high current thyristor devices without the use of mechanical relays. The TLP265J also acts as a barrier to protect sensitive electronic circuit sections from these high current devices.

The TLP265J features an LED optically coupled with an SCR. When the LED is forward biased with at least 1mA, the SCR will turn-on and remain on until the anode current is reduced to below its holding current, which allows for an essentially infinite switch “on” time. The SCR itself features a blocking voltage of 300V and a conduction current of 5A when used within the specified input current range. The output is capable of driving a triac up to 500V at 5A or an SCR directly up to 300V at 5A.

The TLP265J has an AC voltage operating range of 90V to 264V. The TLP265J has full surge protection with a surge withstand voltage of 3750V and life expectancy of 100,000 operations. The TLP265J has a switching speed of 10ms and is housed in a 4 pin DIP package that makes it easy to install.
