Optoisolators, also known as optocouplers, are a special class of component used as an input interface between a control system and an outside signal source, typically an AC or DC power supply, or a digital logic level. The TLP267J is a highly reliable 4-pin Optoisolator, which is very suitable for TRIAC and other solid-state optically isolated output applications. Its optics and detector system are designed in such a way as to provide very low leakage current, reducing the possibility of false triggering even in the presence of low-level noise. With its high current-handling capability, it is capable of operating in up to 400VAC systems.
The TLP267J is also UL recognized and is RoHs compliant, meeting the rigorous standards required for installation in many professional and industrial electronic systems. This optoisolator is also capable of delivering high speed and low propagation delays, allowing for high-speed communications even in challenging and noisy environments.
In operation, the TLP267J works through the use of an infrared emitting diode (IRED) and a photo-sensitive semiconductor detector inside a sealed package working cooperatively to detect light of varying frequencies. Although the IRED can operate in any frequency range, it is most commonly used in the 800 to 950 nanometers range. When an electrical signal, typically an AC/DC waveform, sets off the IRED, the circuit is closed and the voltage of the load circuit is completed with a current flow from the output.}
Once the TLP267J detects the signal and completes the current flow, it will keep the circuit closed until the signal voltage drops below a preset value, at which point the current flow is cut off and the circuit will open again. This makes the TLP267J especially well suited for use in applications where frequent and fast switching is required, such as in solid-state circuits for high-speed data transfer.
The TLP267J\'s versatility also extends to its range of applications that include motor speed control, pulse and logic systems, AC triggered devices, and lamp dimmer applications. In addition to its use as a controlling device in AC and DC systems, the optoisolator can also be utilized as an AC signal detection device in uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, where it can detect and respond to sudden changes in frequency or voltage.
