Optoisolators are electronic devices that use a light-leaning photodiode to optically isolate two electrical circuits from one another with an added layer of protection. The TLP293(GB,E) optoisolator is an interesting variant of the optoisolator family because it uses a transistor output, making it ideal for many switching applications.
At a basic level, optoisolators have three main components: an LED, a photodiode, and a transistor. The LED acts as a light source, which is used to turn on the photodiode, which in turn switches on the transistor that is connected between the two circuits. Most importantly, the TLP293(GB,E) optoisolator uses photocouplers with a phototransistor output which is typically used for driver, relay, and line-driver circuits.
When it comes to applications, the TLP293(GB,E) optoisolator can be used with switching relays, sensors, and transducers. It also finds use in low voltage analog signal isolation/switching applications such as HVAC, process control, and motor control. Thanks to its low-current capabilities, the TLP293(GB,E) optoisolator is particularly useful in safety systems, direct current motor control applications, and LED lighting circuits.
TLP293(GB,E) optoisolator’s working principle is based on separation of an electric circuit using the optical isolation effect. When power is applied to the input of the optoisolator, the LED inside the chip lights up, which in turn triggers the photodiode. The diode will then allow electric current to flow from the input to the output of the optoisolator, thus isolating the two circuits.
The TLP293(GB,E) optoisolator is among the most sophisticated optoisolator devices available, providing an optical isolation of up to 10kVrms and a low-current switching capability. It offers many advantages, making it an ideal choice for a wide range of applications.
