Optoisolators are designed to provide optical isolation between two circuits. This type of isolation helps to reduce the possibility of damage and eliminate false triggering. The TLP361J(F) optoisolator is a member of the Triac, SCR output family and is designed to provide electrical insulation between across two circuits by using an LED and a phototriac.

The TLP361J(F) is an integrated coupler that consists of an infrared light emitting diode and a silicon bilateral surge rated phototriac detector. The rigid construction of this device provides the performance that is required for the utilization in industrial environments. The high off-state terminal voltage of the phototriac and the low forward voltage drop of the LED are ideal for the applications where the device is used to control multiple non-isolated circuits.

The maximum off-state terminal voltage of the phototriac detector is 1500V which provides the necessary level of isolation. The IFT ratings of the device make it suitable for use in power electronics applications. An advantage of using this device is that the LED’s forward voltage drop is only 1.1 volts. This helps to reduce the power dissipation of the device when the phototriac is triggered.

The TLP361J(F) features an operating temperature range between -20°C to 70°C and has an insulation distance of 8mm. The device is also capable of handling peak repetitive gate currents up to 4A max without any significant reduction in its performance. It also provides a good level of noise immunity when used in environments with noise pollution.
