TLP621XGB is a type of optoisolator, better known as a transistor, photovoltaic output. Optoisolators provide electrical isolation with high insulation resistance, allowing data signals to pass via optical methods while ensuring there is no direct electrical connection between input and output. The TLP621XGB is designed for use in consumer and industrial applications.

The TLP621XGB features a gallium arsenide infrared emitting diode (IRED) optically coupled to an NPN silicon phototransistor in an SO-6 plastic surface-mount package, and is designed to perform in harsh environmental conditions. The IRED operates on a wide range of input voltages from 2V-26V in four different packages, and it is capable of transmitting data signals up to 100MHz across a high-insulation resistance of 10,000MR between the input and output terminals. The package provides a single channel for isolation of a signal between two circuits. The package has a built-in wide viewing angle and wide distance emission for use in double sided, multi-layer printed circuit board (PCB) applications.

The TLP621XGB is capable of providing optical isolation between a variety of circuit designs, including conventional digital circuits and signals, as well as analog and pulse signals. In addition to its simple on/off switching performance, it is also capable of providing isolation between digital and PWM (pulse width modulation) signals. The transistor style output is isolated from the input and can provide a high speed response to signals with a maximum rise time of 20 ns.
