TLV3702IDGK Application Field and Working Principle
TLV3702IDGK is a linear comparator that is part of the Texas Instruments family of high-performance, low-power, low-voltage analog comparators. The TLV3702IDGK provides a fast, low-power single supply solution for a wide range of analog applications, such as: overvoltage protection, low-voltage monitoring, microprocessor reset and programmable voltage detection.The TLV3702IDGK is a single-supply device, range 5.5V to 18V, with a typical operating power consumption of 7.2 µA. It includes a number of features and peripherals, such as an inverting input, an open-drain output, a precision voltage reference, as well as signal conditioning circuitry, which reduces the necessary external components. It features an adjustable hysteresis range of 1 mV to 500mV, a 250µs response time, low-noise performance, adjustable speed and high-impedance inputs, which make it ideal for microprocessor-based systems.Working Principle
The TLV3702IDGK has two high-impedance, wide-bandwidth inputs: the non-inverting input and the inverting input. These inputs are designed to accept both single-ended and differential inputs. The inputs possess an adjustable common-mode input range of +2.2V to +15V for better noise immunity. The adjustable hysteresis range of 1 mV to 500mV is determined by an external resistor, and this resistor is used to adjust the comparator\'s hysteresis level.The comparator\'s output is an open-drain. When the output is low, the output pin is pulled down to the ground and no current flows through the output pin. When the output is high, the output pin is open and current can flow through the output pin. This open-drain output is ideal for use in applications requiring multiple signals to be combined while still maintaining the logic state of the output.The TLV3702IDGK includes an on-board precision voltage reference, which allows the user to set the voltage for comparison in an adjustable range from 1.2V to 6.3V. This allows for a number of applications, such as detecting undervoltage or overvoltage conditions and resetting microprocessors.The TLV3702IDGK also features a programmable speed. By setting the speed with an external capacitor, the user can control the comparison speed of the comparator. The speed setting bypasses the hysteresis and sets the minimum loop gain to ensure that the comparator always produces a valid output.Finally, the TLV3702IDGK includes a number of signal conditioning features that reduce the number of external components necessary to connect the device to the rest of the circuit. It has an adjustable pull-down resistor, which helps mitigate glitches and noise, and it also has an amplifying stage to reduce the noise caused by the environment and improve output stability.Applications
